Next Up

Yes, I do have several WIP's, but that doesn't stop me from starting something new.  This kit came with Aida, but I found a lavender 30 count linen in my stash that I think will work.

Most autumn mornings when I watch the birds I see Juncos, Chickadees, Goldfinches, Towhees, and...

Golden-crowned Sparrows (front and center) and...

Purple Finches.

I see Starlings, Band-tailed Pigeons, Mourning Doves, Acorn Woodpeckers, Hairy Woodpeckers, Flickers, and...

...lots of Robins.  Tuesday morning I saw my first Varied Thrush of the season.

I also see Scrub Jays, and Steller's Jays.

And there is usually a nice group of California Quail too.

Pretty much everyone is all grown up now and I can no longer tell the kids from the parents.

Morning Bird Watch: Turkey Vulture, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Black-capped Chickadee, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Junco, Towhee, Song Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, Robin, Crow, Steller's Jay, Scrub Jay, Acorn Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Flicker, Sapsucker, Anna's Hummingbird, Starling, Mourning Dove, Band-tailed Pigeon, Goldfinch, Lesser Goldfinch, House Finch, Purple Finch, and Cedar Waxwings. About 25 species. It varies from 19-27 depending on whether it is a sunny or cloudy morning.

Behind as usual. Congrats on winning that giveaway! Love your new stitch too. And the birds! I have learned so much from you these past years. I'm still thrilled that I saw an acorn woodpecker outside -- and knew what it was immediately! :D

It's a trade-off... I don't see that many species in a day (unless I go out walking somewhere), but... I also don't have as much land as you do! But that is quite a list! Going out today to see if I can spot any warblers, sparrows or Larks, then will do a blog post... Hugs!

I am behind in reading blogs again too. Your new start is a cute one. I think the quail are some of my favorite birds.
