The snow began about 4:00am Friday morning.
The forecast was for 1"-3". As you can see, we got over 8" by the time it let up at 3:00pm.
I always forget just how pristine and lovely snow is.
Each tree is so perfectly delineated.
Even the snow-gray sky is lovely.
Snow can make even the most mundane of object interesting once again.
The Teasle becomes a little snowball.
The tracks and the scratches of the ground-feeding birds make an abstract work of art.
I have never seen my peanut feeders and suet busier than they were yesterday. Oh, but I'd love to see the bright red of some Cardinals at my feeders!
And yes the Anna's Hummingbirds were out and about in the snow. This feeder was 1/2 full this morning - look how much they consumed in just one day!
I counted 10 Towhees! More than I've ever compiled for any of my February Bird Count tallies.
The Juncos were too numerous to count.
The quail were grateful for the seeds I tossed on the snow-covered ground. As the forecast is to continue to be cold edging into frigid (Saturday a high of 23F and a low 12F and Sunday a high of 25F & a low of 12F) this snow will not be going away anytime soon!

Beautiful photos!! Thanks for sharing ~ so far all we've had is rain! My boys and pup are waiting for snow.
Beautiful pictures. Our snow comes tomorrow.
So much snow! I can't believe this weather -- so crazy!
Beautiful snowy photos. Stay warm!
Wow, that is a Winter Wonderland! Very pretty! And you did all that work is prepare your garden for it too - well done!
The birds must love you! Enjoy the snow, Beth!
Beautiful photos. Those poor babies are lucky to have you; they need all that food just to survive.
Better you than us! I'm perfectly happy to experience winter through your photos. :)
I love the photos you post of the quail. We don't have them around here -- at least, I don't ever see them, so maybe we do and I just don't know it. Anyway, they are such neat-looking birds.
Lovely pictures - it's the kind of weather that I want to see from inside a nice warm room....
Beth, your photos are beautiful! No matter how difficult it can be to navigate in the snow, it is impossible not to admire its beauty! I am constantly amazed and enthralled with your birds.
What lovely photos of the birds as always. You may keep all of the snow, however!
Your snow looks so pretty!! We are just plain frigid! We are suppose to set all kinds of records tonight. Our Hummingbird feeder was freezing in 2 hours this am. I really would much rather have our gray skies and drizzle!
You've got a little taste of the midwest going on over there! I love how the snow looks on the trees. It's such a peaceful holiday scene.
Although I really don't like the snow, it does make everything beautiful. Lovely photos.
These pictures could be on postcards! You have such an eye for taking great pictures! Stay warm!
