A Bumblebee and Gardening

Design - "Bumblebee"
Designer - Country Cottage Needleworks
Fabric - 28 count Lakeside Patina linen
Fibers - Country Cottage - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 30 September 2012
Completed - 5 October 2012

I've now stitched three of the series of four insects.

A couple of weeks ago at a meeting of the Avid Gardeners, $5.00 in raffle tickets netted me the Chamaecyparis thyoides 'Red Star' and the Cryptomeria japonica 'Pygmaea' - a wonderful return on my investment.  I now have two 'Red Stars' and need to figure out how big they will get and where to plant them.

I am ready for Spring 2013!  I have nine pots of bulbs all ready to go.  I'll set them under the eaves for the winter and move them to the Front Porch as they begin to show signs of growth.

My sister's Dahlia Garden does not appear to recognize that a hard frost is not too far away.

The Dahlias are in full bloom - so colorful!
As show season is over, we can have all the bouquets we wish!

I love that bumblebee design! Too cute. You are way ahead of me on gardening (but I think it's the climate...my rooftop tomatoes just yielded another pound and a half on Sunday!)

Luv your three bugs. Excited to watch your bulbs. Never knew how to start bulbs in the winter for the spring.

Hi there! Cute bumblebee! Ever since seeing your posts about dahlias, I have thought I want to do some. Can I put them in pots? Hugs!

I love seeing your sister's dahlias.
The ones that we saw on our trip were so lovely.

What beautiful dahlias. They are so gorgeous and have so many wonderful varieties. Sadly we appear to breed slugs for a living so dahlias are out for us but I really enjoy seeing everyone else's.

The bumblebee, dragonfly and ladybug are lovely. I really want to get this set 'one day'
