One Lovely Hummer

I think all these photos are of the same female.

This one has next to no throat pattern, and I have one or two females that have a bit of color at the throat.

Did you know that lots of birds have an additional pair of clear eyelids that protect the eyes while flying?  Looking closely at this photo you can see the Nictitating Membrane - the 'extra' eyelid.

And here's the eye with the Nictitating Membrane pulled back.

Several rainy days have limited my opportunity for photos.

While the rainy days have limited your photos, today's share are really cool. I didn't know that about the birds' eyes.

That was a really astute observation of the eyelid, considering how very limited a view you get with these tiny, fast birds! Thanks for sharing! Hugs!

Miserable, rainy day here yesterday and now strong winds, no hike in the woods 2 days in a row! I did know that info about the eye, just not what it was called. Lovely pic of the Anna.
