Signs of Spring

Maybe if I were snowed in I get more stitching done!
I hope everyone was safe and warm during the blizzard this weekend.

With mild temperatures the earliest of daffodils are blooming...

...as are the snowdrops.

I am seeing and hearing Robins more frequently.

The Song Sparrows are singing away as though spring is here.

Lots of Jays - both Scrub Jays and Steller's Jays.

Fox Sparrow

Junco

Fox Sparrow and Golden-crowned Sparrow.

How wonderful to see your signs of spring on this cold, wintry morning, Beth! Love the daffodils--we won't see any for three more months. Luckily, we were only on the edge of the storm and escaped with only 4 inches :) Your little snowman start would fit in nicely over here in the east!

Goodness! Is this a new record for earliness for the flowers?

Spring signs... That's amazing to me... As we sit here in the deep freeze :)

Your snowman is looking cute!

I worry about the unseasonable warmth and signs of spring I'm seeing here - it's only January, and if the birds come back and trees/flowers begin to bud and bloom, and the bees wake up, and then we're hit with a long spell of winter again in February/March, how will they all handle it? I know that bees in particular are vulnerable, and I worry about losing even more bees than are being lost through whatever (chemicals? something else?) is killing colonies around the world.

Not to mention the fact that if we don't have enough deep freezes the mosquitoes are going to be a nightmare next summer. :((

You do have pictures of the prettiest sparrows. I am a bit worried about the plants as our weatherman says next week could be very cold-temps in the low 20's! I hope not as many things are beginning to show up.

These flowers are definitely signs of spring. After some heavy snowfalls two weeks ago we are also having spring like temperatures although I fear winter isn't over yet, lol.

I stitched a snowman piece last night, going to finish-finish it by the weekend. Yours is looking so cute! Seems to be the consensus that everyone is worried about being fooled by this weather, and the effects it will have when Spring REALLY does arrive. Not that we have any control over it... it is out of our hands! I think the flowers are delightful to see in January! A sign of hope! Hugs!
