We spent the weekend in the Sunriver-Prineville area of Oregon.
I was thrilled to see a small group of Clark's Nutcrackers on the ground foraging Pine seeds.
They are pretty brazen, one of their nicknames is Camp Robber as they are not shy about begging for handouts.
This is an eruptive year for them, and though they hang out on the east side of the cascades, they've been seen in the Willamette Valley.
I think this was a group of Clark's Nutcrackers flying over my house in late September.
They're a corvid so they have a big brain and good memory of where they cache seeds.
I saw lots of Red Crossbills, Jays, woodpeckers, and deer.
