Spring is here!

And here's another woodpecker.

This time it's a female Red-shafted Northern Flicker.

I usually just refer to them as Flickers.

That said, most of the country has Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker which look quite different.

Every once in a while we have a hybrid which combines the characteristics of the two sub-species.

Anyway, she's lovely.
