I had not seen a Rufous in several days, and was concerned.
On Wednesday this fellow came through for me.
Great profile
All ruffled up
And the lovely iridescent colors of his gorget!
He's a beauty.
Tiny but mighty.
And a straight-on street fighter!
Also saw the first female Rufous.
She is green and white and brown.
Onward spring!

Mr. Rufous is a handsome one. He looks so fluffy in your pictures, Beth. Glad a female has made an appearance!
The rufous showed up at our farm this week, too! I am going thru a quart a day right now. I count 4 nests in our yards and one in the holly tree down in the garden. Poor things are probably confused with all the colder than normal weather we're having.
