Little Guys

Design - "Love Your Hearts"
Designer - DMC
Fabric - 32 count white linen
Started - 29 April 2009
Completed - 3 May 2009
Uses DMC variegated floss

Framed - October 2014

This is one of my favorite finished stitches.

Now for some of the little guys...

I've not seen many, but here is a Chestnut-backed Chickadee.

I just love the soft colors of our subspecies - Oregon Junco

I think there are over 20 birds that gather daily.

And recently I was happy to spy a White-breasted Nuthatch.

Up and down the Douglas Fir it went.

Here it is perched just above a couple of recent Red-breasted Sapsucker wells.
Do you see them?

This is currently a very popular perch.

The male Anna's made an appearance this week.

And there are a couple of females too.

Rain or shine

Have a peaceful Sunday.

Woodpeckers - Part Four

Design - "Heart Squares"
Designer - A Needle & Fred
Fabric - 28 count Milk Chocolate linen
Fibers - WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 10 March 2015
Completed - 14 March 2015

So Woodpeckers Part Four!
Very excited to have a couple of Red-breasted Sapsuckers working on a tree this week.

I've seen the birds a couple of times while eating breakfast.

Tough to get photos of BOTH of them.

They move around constantly.

This is probably the best of the lot.

I did manage some decent 'singles'.

With this species the males and females are identical.

No way to tell them apart.

I do love their brilliant red heads.

The top of the breast is red, then there is a bit of yellow.

They drill holes making sap wells.

Woodpeckers Part Three

Design - "Three Hearts"
Designer - A Needle & Fred
Fabric - 28 count Lavender Sunset Jobelan
Fibers - DMC & WDS - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 28 February 2012
Completed 2 April 2012

No walk this week - yet more woodpecker photos instead.

Male Acorn Woodpecker

This male is a mature bird with pink eyes.

This male is younger and has blue eyes.

Here's the female.

I do not see her as often as the males.

But she does come by to eat.

This last time in the company of one of the males.

I've been watching this snag. This looks like new, fresh construction.
I think that I've seen an Acorn flighting out from this tree.
Is this a potential nesting site? Stay tuned.

And here is a Flicker couple.

Female on the left, male on the right.
