November's Trail Camera Photos - Dorothy's Creek

 We have two cameras down at Dorothy's Creek.  One shows the correct date and time, the other indicates it is July as we can no longer program the correct date and time. No matter what the photo says, all were taken in November.

How Did I have So Much Time to Cross Stitch Back in the Day?

I am proud of the bead-work on this one - I usually stay far, far away from any design that requires beading.

How did I used to have so much time to cross stitch back when I was working fulltime? Now I work part time and I go for days and weeks without stitching...I keep buying new charts and linen and floss though! 

 

I've seen two Cooper's Hawks and one Sharp-shinned Hawk.  They've been by most mornings so have impacted the activity at the feeders.  

I did find some Juncos lurking in the brush.

They are often just called Winter Birds as that's when most people see them.

I have them all year, but many more in the winter.

Wow - I stitched this 32 years ago!

This is a winter like no other as far as Anna's Hummingbirds are concerned.

On Tuesday I counted six females - three on one feeder, one on another feeder, and two hoovering in flight.

I knew I had one adult male, making a total of seven birds. 

But on Wednesday morning, I discovered there were three adults males!

That males a total of nine birds this winter!  Crazy.

Wednesday's Walk

This walk was truly a Thanksgiving Walk taken last week before sitting down to dinner. 

My mom, sister, and I decided to follow a just over two mile loop along the top of the ridge. 

The walk quickly entered a second growth forest of Douglas fir and Big Leaf Maple.

There were still some spots of color.

But most of the forest looked like this.

I heard the chittering of a Douglas Squirrel.  He had a Douglas fir cone for his Thanksgiving feast.

A damp forest = lots of mushrooms.

It was a nice walk - several folks out with their dogs.  All the dogs were on leashes, and everyone was very respectful of the 6' rule.
