Wednesday's Walk

It's a lovely day.
Our native iris (Iris tenax) is blooming up a storm.

Many different shades of purple.
Let's take a look.

I enjoy their burst of color each spring.
I hope you did too.

Another oldie but a goodie.

There are still two pairs of Violet-green Swallows swooping around.

Are they serious about nesting here?

Will they stay?

Will they go elsewhere?

I'd enjoy watching you raise a family.

Finally Finches!

Before the Egg Hunt!

Design - "Egg Hunt" (kit)
Designer - Lizzie Kate
Fabric - unknown - 28 count minty green of some sort
Fibers - WDW, GAST, and Threadgatherer - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 11 March 2012
Completed - on an extremely blustery, windy day and evening 12 March 2012

After the Egg Hunt!

I did not have WDW "Celebration" for the border, so I used Threadgatherer's "Winter Sky".  I think it made for a successful substitution.

Every morning...

The Steller's Jays come for peanuts.

And so does a crow. I think they are nesting, so I'm only seeing one at a time now.

But finally...

I've got a nice little flock of American Goldfinches.

I think there were 10-12 total.

Wednesday's Walk

A belated Earth Day Walk.
There's much to be thankful for on Earth Day. Off we go!

Big Leaf Maple - one week ago.

Look at it now!  Wow!

Not sure what this is - but it is green.

Ash

Hazel brush

Old Reliable!  Douglas fir.

Our native Dogwood.

So delicate.

Wood Violets hiding.

Here are more.

Oregon White Oak - one of the slower trees to leaf out.

Thick clump of false Solomon's Seal.
We are to receive some much needed rain today - time to go back inside.
