An Eruptive Winter

Design - "Four Reindeer"
Chart - "Reindeer Roundup" #182
Designer - The Prairie Schooler
Fabric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 20 December 2014
Completed - 21 December 2014

This has a pretty simple finish for an ornament suggested. Maybe after the holidays I should try it!

It looks as though it's going to be a Pine Siskin Winter.

These little finches hang out in the boreal forest of Canada.

If the pine seed crop is less than stellar, thousands and thousands of birds winter much further south than normal.

The last time Oregon had an eruptive winter was in 2020/2021.

This looks to be another one.

They generally come into the feeders in large groups.

Notable are their small, sharp beaks, and bright yellow wingbars.

I am going to buy a couple of more feeders to help with the activity level.

I think that I briefly had somewhere around 70-80 birds.
