Blue skies and bright blue birds

The feeders are quiet at the moment.

Crown feathers up.

Crown feathers down.

It's time for breakfast!

Sunday's Hummers

Not a lot of hummingbird activity this past week.

Here's what I have to share:

Perching up high

Wide-eyed and alert

Literally on the fence

I like how the caught raindrops glow in the morning light

Tongue out

Can you see the cobweb?

As often is the case, there's pollen on the bill.

Have a happy and peaceful Sunday.

Saturday's Critters

This week's critters include:

Barry the Buck

The orphaned fawn

A brush rabbit

or two

or three.

The gray squirrels are back in force

And so are the chipmunks.

I think they win for cuteness.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Lots and Lots and Lots

Designer - Fanci That
Chart - Pumpkin (#101)
Fabric - 10" x 10" 36 count Edinborough Sand
Began -1 October 2002
Completed - Halloween 2002

Goodness!  Look at this!

A HUGE flock of Cedar Waxwings.

I tried counting from the photo and stopped when I got to 50.
I think there are well over 100 birds.

Some have stopped by for a visit.

Just a few.

Then a pretty good gathering.

I enjoy how they line up in an orderly queue.

A couple of dozen birds anyway.

Snags may be unsightly, but they make for great bird perches.

Look around - you never know what you might see.

Return of a Winter Resident

Design - "Halloween Pin Garden" (kit)
Designer - Raise the Roof
Fabric - 32 count Summer Khaki Lugana
Fibers - Au Ver a Soie
Started - 22 October 2010
Completed - 24 October 2010

This kit came with a frame, so instant finish = instant gratification!

It's weird, but I seem to see some birds more often in the fall / winter than spring / summer.

The American Robin is one of those birds.

And then there are the fall / winter returning residents.

Welcome back to a White-throated Sparrow.

Wednesday's Walk - Here and There

Autumn has arrived.

This tree is turning colors.

The Douglas fir cones are ripe - the dead branch has probably been girdled by a squirrel.

It's spider time.

More Douglas fir cones

Big Leaf Maple

Hazel brush

A hybrid Dogwood

Ash

Hawthorn

I keep waiting for a flock of Cedar Waxwings to descend.

Blackberries

Some much needed rain should arrive on Friday - fingers crossed!
