It was pleasant to have a couple of Chestnut-backed Chickadees in the backyard the other day.

While they are frequent winter visitors, I don't see much of them in the spring and summer. 

There's that chestnut back!

Surprised to have an American Goldfinch having a go at the nesting material.  They normally nest in mid-June. 

And here's a handsome Purple Finch.  The top of his head glows with color.

 

More Scrub Jays have been hanging around as of late. 

Two and three at the same time.

 I might have to come up with a new theme for Sundays.  

Showing off the same male Anna's week after week seems a bit boring.

And I did not even manage many photos this week.

This is a series of photos of a male Acorn Woodpecker.

He perched on a tree in the backyard.

Then decided to come in for a closer visit.

And decided that he might have a bite to eat.

There's that tongue!

I made a few changes as I stitched. I changed the color of the mouse from rust to light grey.  I added whiskers.  And I tweaked the pattern on the rug so that it filled the entire background in an even fashion.

I have Tuesdays off from work.

In the afternoon I had a group of five Evening Grosbeaks come by.

The colors...those beaks... their cheerful 'churring'.

What's not to love?
