What a Beautiful Day

Design - "Hodgepodge Hearts"
Designer - Heart in Hand
Fabric - 32 count Summer Khaki linen
Started - 1 February 2010
Finished - 2 February 2010

We're in the midst of a ridiculously warm spell of weather.
It seems more like April than February.

The Juncos are singing up a storm.

This is a male.

This lighter colored one is a female.

And here you go. The bright blue sky I was talking about.

And a bright blue bird to go with it.

Sorry, no new bird photos today. I hope to have time so that I'll have some to post tomorrow.
Check back then.

Wednesday's Walk Around the House

In 2019 on this date, this is what it looked like:

The Douglas fir trees are pretty good about shaking off the snow.

I'll be interested to see what the day brings.

Over 12" of snow!

This year, late February is warmer than normal.
The walk was at dusk, so some of the photos are dark.
Lots of signs of spring as it is very warm.

Who's Around?

Design - "Be Mine Valentine"
Designer - Ewe & Eye & Friends
Fabric - 32 count Flax Belfast linen
Fibers - GAST - 1 strand over 2 threads
Started - 26 February 2013
Completed - 27 February 2013

A funky color for a heart - this used GAST's "Hyacinth".  I like it.

Who's around?

A Cooper's Hawk - that's who.

Also a female Flicker.

Her back feathers appear to have  bit of yellow on some of the tips.
I've not noticed that before.

She's enjoying the tail prop feature on the feeder.

A lone Pine Siskin.

Big and Small

Design - "2005 Collector's Heart"
Designer - Heart in Hand
Fabric - 32 count Dirty Belfast linen
Fibers - GAST
Started - 2006
Completed - 2006

The pair of crows are showing up on a regular basis.

They like suet.

And they like peanuts.

One of them has a gimpy leg, so I'm pretty sure it's the same pair that was active last spring / summer.

Still getting nice mixed flocks of Pine Siskins and Lesser Goldfinches.

The male Lessers are the showiest of the small birds.

They really pop on a dull winter day.

Saturday's Critters

It's all smaller critters this week.

A chipmunk

Lots of gray squirrels.

I counted nine the other day.

Today there were at least five.

And a couple of brush rabbits

They eat in harmony with the birds.

Happy Saturday.
