In this part of the world, both pumpkins and dahlias can be iconic symbols of autumn.

I threatened promised to post photos from the Lane County Dahlia show and so here they are.  As with any kind of plant, it is always remarkable to see them en mass - the depth and breath of color and form...

Vesuvius - A truly explosive floral arrangement!

Alfred Grille - Incurved Cactus

This form of dahlia looks like whacked out starfish to me!

A New Week...A New Start

As it continues to rain...and feels like autumn rather than the end of summer, I decided to stitch up the little pumpkin ornament on this chart - the hoop covers part of the picture...

Yesterday I took in the Lane County Dahlia Show, and I will post more pictures tomorrow.  I do, however, want to share the lovely quilt one of their members made for the show.  My photo does not begin to do it justice.

The use of color was outstanding~

On the front porch, while the salvias and coleus are beginning to look a bit tatty, my fuchsias are perfectly content.  They do not mind the 0.4" of rain we received yesterday.
They are very cheery and I'm so glad I live in a climate which is conducive to growing these beauties!
