Woodpeckers Part Two

Design - "March Blows"
Designer - Bent Creek
Fabric - 28 count Country French Cafe Mocha linen
Floss - WDW and GAST
Started - 10 July 2010
Completed - 11 July 2010

So these photos are all about Flickers.

A female contentedly eating suet.

No she's perched on a tree branch.

Her orange tail feathers are prominently.  Why it's called a Red-shafted Flicker I do not understand.
This is orange, NOT red!

And now a male flies in and fans out his tail feathers.

"Look at me!", he says.

I'm not sure she's impressed.

He is handsome though.

From little to larger.

A male Downy Woodpecker

And here's another one.

Adorable

All ruffled up!

Neat and tidy once again.

And for size comparison, here's a male Hairy Woodpecker.

Lots of tongue action.

A bill that means business.

And a male Acorn Woodpecker came by again.

Where are the other members of your group buddy?

A lovely bird.

Keep popping in please.

Nesting Continues

Design - "Roster with a Quilted Tail"
Chart - "Roxie and Rooster"
Designer - Meme's Quilts
Fabric - 32 count R & R 18th Century Brown linen
Fibers - DMC- 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 18 August 2012
Completed - 20 August 2012

Though this is a small piece, it is dense with 14 different colors and serious back-stitching!

Nesting continues...

Yet another Chestnut-backed Chickadee hard at work...

...gathering nesting material.

I've never had one use a nesting box.

I need to check to see if the Black-capped Chickadees are using their box on the back side of the shop.
The swallows are not yet gathering nesting material, so there is more activity yet to come.

Yellow and Gold

Here we go!

Design - "The Chicken Sampler"
Designer - The Stitching Shed
Fabric - 28 count Antique White
Fibers - Anchor - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 5 May 2012
Completed - 16 June 2012

I'm finished - I know have six colorful chickens in my coop.  This is such a bright and cheery piece.  It would be easy to personalize by changing the colors to suit the stitcher's taste.

A had a nice, bright flock come by.

This is the most American Goldfinches I've seen thus far.

They were hanging out...

...everywhere!

I always think they look like Christmas lights when they group up like this.

There was a ringer in the group...a Pine Siskin.
Can you spot it?
