The last Violet-green Swallow baby fledged on Saturday.
Now all is quiet in the nesting boxes.

Now it's time for California Quail babies.
My father saw a large group along the driveway far from the house.

No sign yet of any in the backyard.

There are a two or three quail couples that hang out.

It is possible that they are still sitting on eggs.

I'm hoping for two or three different family groups this year.

Thoughtful

Marching

Watching and waiting.

Then one had to leave for work.

This is the first Mourning Dove I've seen in quite some time.

My wild chickens!

The quail love to eat black oil sunflower seeds.

A handsome male House Finch and female Lesser Gold Finch.

Lessers - two males and a female.
I've been enjoying mild, sunny days!  Is this March?

There are daffodils in bloom everywhere.
And spring behaviors with birds too.

I heard the manic call of a Pileated Woodpecker and got to watch as it flew overhead.

A small female Downy Woodpecker was busy.

Her potential partner was active in the backyard.

I saw three, maybe four Acorn Woodpeckers.

Here are two females.

Elsewhere I saw two birds in conflict - were they both males?
