A new yard bird!

I noticed three birds flying overhead and one looked a bit odd.

A white belly and a head with a black stripe along the eye.

A raptor for sure.

Better birders than I weighed in - it's an Osprey!

A new yard bird for me.

Mourning Doves have been AWOL all winter. 

Now I have two.

Aren't they a cute couple?

An Acorn Woodpecker census

One female

The black on the front of the head equals female. 

And two guys!

So three birds total! 

And the possibility of young birds!

And a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers.

Female - Red ends at eyes - no mustache.

And a male.

Red all the way to beak and a bright read mustache.

Baby Pileateds are possible!

Still busy with nesting! 

Uncertain - is it an Anna's is it a Rufous?

Looks like some brown on the sides - maybe it is a Rufous.

Whatever it is, it is very busy and it is delightful!
