This is a stitch my Mom completed. As many folks go to the beach in August, it's a perfect design to feature today. 

Differences between juvenile and adult birds make for hard birding in August and September.

Case in point!

Who is this?

I think it's a young Song Sparrow

But honestly a young Towhee also looks so different from an adult bird.

Keeps me on my toes!

The Western Tanagers sang up a storm most mornings in May and June.

After breeding finished, they stopped singing and I've not heard or seen them for several weeks.

On Wednesday morning I had a couple of birds come by.

The light was terrible, but I believe this to be a male.

I think there's a bit of red on the head.

It might be a newly fledged bird.

Same bird, or a different one...

Looks at bit more yellow, but again that can just be the terrible lighting.

I did have a female Western Tanager fly in, but was not able to snag a photo.
