What's Going On

Design -Briar Rabbit
Designer - La-D-Da
Fabric - 35 count R & R 18th Century Rook
Fibers - Needlepoint Silks
Started - 28 July 2009
Completed - 5 August 2009

I am very pleased with the finished product. I used 35 count 18th Century Rook linen and the Needlepoint Silks as charted. It is a lovely little sampler and it fit perfectly as part of my "Rabbit Summer of 2009". I think this one needs to get framed.

 What's going on?

Crows are out and about

A California Scrub Jay comes by most days.

Lots of American Goldfinches now at the feeder.

I expect the Golden-crowned Sparrows to leave any day now.

They're sporting bright breeding colors.

I think there are two nesting boxes that will have residents this spring.

Violet-green Swallows are a summer sign for me.

Plenty of perches this time of year.

Two Mourning Doves

And a BIG surprise!

A male California Quail

I've not seen one in well over a year.

No sign of a female though...

They are one of my favorite summer visitors.

Such bold colors.

Welcome back Mr. Big Beak!

Here's A Warbler!

Continuing with my Frame a Rabbit theme, several years ago I took in Ewe & Eye & Friend's "Brown Bunny" to be finished.

We decided on a very plain brown frame wit a bit of a metallic finish.

As the sampler is a bit busy, I thought a simple frame would be best.

I think it sets off the piece nicely...and so does the brown bunny.

Migration is marvelous!

The Pacific NW does not have nearly the number of species of warblers that there are in the East and Midwest.

So we celebrate those that we DO have.

This is our most common summer one - an Orange-crowned Warbler.

This series of photos is blurry as I took them through a window (which needs to be cleaned!).

It's been pretty regular morning and evening working away on the suet.

A brighter outdoor photo. The bird spends a lot of time lurking/hiding in the roses.

Here's my best shot.  A nice, colorful bird.
