Funny Friday

This bobcat provided our breakfast entertainment Friday morning. 

 

It strolled over.

Looked back.

And discovered the rain-bird sprinkler.

Crept up and WACKED it!

Thought about it.

Came s l o w l y creeping back.

And wacked at it again...

...and again!

Decided it was satisfactorily cowed and/or dead.

And cautiously left the seen of the sprinkler murder!

I dail have a small mixed flock of Lesser and American Goldfinches.

And several Black-capped Chickadees.

They rate very high on the Cute Scale.

They talk and chatter and flit and feed.

A group of 4-6 is pretty normal now.

Eagles and Flickers

So that's the eagle and here are the flickers.

On the left is the fledgling on the right is Dad.

Lots of begging and talking involved.

And supervising.

 

That finally paid off with FOOD!

So back to squawking.

And eating.

And supervising!

Sunday's Gift a Tuesday Post

Sunday blessed me with a special gift.

High up near the top of a Douglas Fir tree I heard, then saw a female Bullock's Oriole.  It then flew off and I thought that was as close as it would get.

Or not!

A few minutes later it returned to the backyard for some much lower and closer looks. 

A striking bird - notice the tail as well as head and breast.

I could not ask for more.

Except its 2nd perch allowed me to see more of the bird. 

Again lots of nice poses.

I like the tilted head.

It would not seem like summer if I did not see a Bullock's Oriole.
