Easy Like Sunday Morning

Are you enjoying your Sunday?

There's a Great Big World out there!

Young ones are always cute.

I wonder how many spots there are.

This female Rufous perches on a lily to guard the Mudroom flowerbed.

It's the perfect size for a petite bird.

The flowerbed is large enough for three or four birds...

Giving me the cold shoulder.

Such a pretty pattern of green and brown feathers.

The sun gleams on the feathers.

And she watches and waits.

This is another favorite battle station perch.

We even look straight up.

Parvati and I have counted as many as six bunnies in the back yard.

Each morning after breakfast we go on a walk-about.

Most days we do not have to go far to see multiple bunnies.

Groups of two or three are common.

Big Bunnies...

...and Baby Bunnies.

I am most amused when there are bunnies and quail.

Papa Quail is leading this group pass a couple of bunnies.

Basking in the morning sun.  What a great way to start the day!

Saturday Farmers' Market

Last Saturday my sister and I stopped by the Lane County Farmers' Market.

For many different reasons, we've not been more than a couple of times this year.

By late July the market was in full swing with summer produce.

...like peppers...

...the first corn...

...and tomatoes.

As well as work-horses like onions.

I fall for the flowers.

Melons appeared too.

This is my favorite bakery at the market.
I always get a pain au chocolate.

A stunning tiger lily for sale.

Wonderful colors - plums and blackberries.

French style beans.

Zinnias and dahlias oh my!

Lilies

Watermelons and cantaloupes.

An especially stunning lily.

Lots of greens...

...and peaches...

...and still more flowers.

Love this summer assortment pack!

Here's what came home - bright summer sunflowers!

Mourning Doves and Quail

I spent part of yesterday stitching away on Heartstrings Samplery's "Mourning Doves".  I spent most of the time working on the monster flower on the right.

While I do have four or five Mourning Doves, they are totally out-numbered by the California Quail.

This is the group with the oldest, and thus largest babies.

The single adult male is watching over something like 28-32 youngsters.

They are now close to 3/4 sized birds.

That made it easy for my to establish that this is a 'new' family with six tiny chicks.

There is a Mama and Papa bird looking over this brood.

Adorable, right?

This is pretty adorable too.

Bunnies to the left and quail to the right!

Where should we go next?

I'm on my way!
