Thursday morning I noticed at least a dozen Steller's Jays flying around and yelling their displeasure.
Why?

That's why.

Jays are members of the Corvid family - the smartest of the birds, and they work cooperatively.
It this case they were annoyed with a Cooper's Hawk.

They eventually got it to move.

Thought not far - just to the peak of the roof of the house.

I think it was enjoying the early morning sunshine rather than looking for breakfast.

Adorable owl stitch! Yay for the jays! What a handsome hawk though! I know we don't have one around at the moment because there have been more squirrels seen running about.
