I worked on this design while on an airplane trip to North Dakota and Minnesota for a family reunion. The design is so old that the fabric is no longer in production. It was the prefect design to stitch for the trip...
...as there were lots of Red-winged Blackbirds in the marshes and sloughs.
I recently saw another Black bird.
No red on the wings of this large guy.
A raven!
I've had a RAven around for a couple of weeks now. He is a big bird with a wingspan of close to four feet (46"). Here he is talking to another Raven of in the distance.
The Violet-green Swallows are lighting on the ground to gather dried grasses.
They are busy building nests.
Other birds gather to have a drink or two.
A female Black-headed Grosbeak.
A male Purple Finch.
A Pine Siskin.
A female Purple Finch and female American Goldfinch.
American Goldfinches and a Pine Siskin.
Even my male Hairy Woodpeckers stops by for drink!
Absolutely beautiful! The bird photos made my day!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet birds--especially the goldfinches. We seem to have more and more ravens in our yard--they are huge!!
ReplyDeleteThe swallow looks like it has a cape on it's back! That is a cute little design. We have a pond in the neighborhood and I often see red-winged blackbirds.
ReplyDeleteSo lovelies
ReplyDeleteAnother enjoyable post, as always! I had a male American Goldfinch visit this past week. First I have seen in months! Cute stitch by Bent Creek... I also stitched it (made into a little pillow), and it sits on my dresser so I see it when I go to sleep and wake. (along with Happy as a Lark!) Hugs!
