I usually have lots of hummingbird photos to share by mid-May, but this year the birds are few and shy.
I do have a couple of male Anna's Hummingbirds.
I rarely see them together they are extremely territorial.
IF I do see them, they usually are chasing one another in a blur of wings and scolding chatter.
They are my most 'regular' at the feeders.
I do have a female Anna's that come to my front feeder.
I also have a female Rufous Hummingbird.
She comes by once in a while.
This is the best photo I've managed to get of her. I did see my male Rufous Hummingbird on Thursday zipping by for a very quick drink. I am hoping that when I have more salvias and agastaches in bloom, I'll see more of the birds and that they will linger longer and become used to my presence.
Great pictures! (That second hummingbird looks like he's smiling a little LOL)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the hummingbirds! They are and always will be my favorites! Hope they start coming to you in more numbers soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the hummingbird photos. We have 2 Annas that are using our feeder a lot.
ReplyDeleteYou must be mighty quick to be able to capture them so well!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Last summer was the first time I had seen hummingbirds sitting still. We were at a community garden in Colorado. I didn't have my big camera with me at the time, just my iPhone, so wasn't able to zoom in close enough to get good pictures. Yours turned out great. :) I have a friend in TX who happily prepares for the return of "her" hummingbirds every year.
ReplyDeleteOh how I HOPE that I get even ONE hummingbird at the feeder this year! And that I get to see it!! I know they are quick!
