We are EXCITED about the weekend (in a cat-like fashion).
See, we ARE excited about the weekend!
One Bird
Two bunnies
Three chipmunks (I originally typed chimpunks!)
"It's breakfast time."
"We storm the All You Can Eat Sunflower Seed Bar."
"We have to be first in line or those darned gray squirrels hog everything."
"Squirrels! It's the hoard of Band-tailed Pigeons that get my goat!"
It appears that two of our quail couples now have babies. See the little one in the grass? Later that same day as my sister drove down to her dahlia garden, she stopped to let the quail cross the driveway about 50 feet from the house. As they crossed, out of the brush a Bob-Cat attacked. He literally ran through the quail chicks intent on getting one of the parents. My sister thinks the attack failed; she said the quail were hysterical as might be expected, so she drove off to let them recover in peace.
While the quail must be ever vigilant, I hope you are able to enjoy a kick back weekend.
One year ago today Mom and I took a pilgrimage to Canterbury.
Goodness! I would not want to witness a bob-cat attack.
ReplyDeleteAll nature is celebrating the Solstice!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I hope the quail are ok! :( That must have been scary for your sister to see too. Yikes! (Weekends are a good thing.)
ReplyDelete50 feet from the HOUSE???!!! That's pretty darn close! I would be intimidated... I might have honked the car horn if I got my wits back from the shock of seeing the bobcat! Poor quail! Love the chipmunks! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh I wish we had chipmunks in Florida! Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteBeth, what a perfect picture of the cats! Our chippies would agree about the squirrels. They are ok with the black squirrels and the gray squirrels but the little red squirrels are very territorial and so far, we have counted 5 red squirrels (mom, dad and three young ones).
ReplyDeleteHope the bob cat failed in his mission! He was really close to your home!
Yeah ... Chipmunks!!
ReplyDeleteYikes. That is a close encounter. :(
