All About the Garden

This is a 'Garden Post' in recognition of the Tuesday Garden Party over at an Oregon Cottage.  I have it so together that even my cross stitching fits thematically. I've got the sentiment stitched for Cottage Garden Samplings "March's Daffodil".  Now on to the flowers.

Parvati is one of my four Garden Helpers.

I have an ever growing collection of watering cans.  I found this cute little thing at Barnes and Noble of all places.

This plant stand is in a protected west-facing nook and looks quite cheery.  At some point I'm going to have to become a ruthless killer and toss the pansies for begonias or some other plant that will stand summer's heat.

This Bleeding Heart (dicentra) is grown more for its chartreuse foliage than the blossoms.  It erupted out of the ground and got to this height in no time at all.

I'm stitching Daffodils and admiring the 'live' ones.

I was gifted with three small Podophyllum in the summer.  They have come back and are twice as big as they were last year.

I have several kinds of Grape Hyacinths (muscari).

As I'm a blue / violet person they please me greatly.

As does this Belarina Primrose.  Doesn't it look like an African Violet?

Back to the Muscari....
...and the Primroses...

I've lost the tags to most of my Muscari, oh well!  I've if I don't know their 'proper' name, I still enjoy having them.

  1. I love all your blooms. I'm finally getting daffodils at my house. It's certainly been a long winter.

  5. March's Daffodil is looking great.

I am also a purple/blue person, so I enjoyed all the pictures of the muscari. Usually I go for the more saturated colors, but that last icy/pastel one is gorgeous!

I think I actually saw some primroses at the Botanical Gardens last weekend, so maybe I can try them here. Once we move, that is! They would never survive on our 4th-story deck.

  8. I thought the primrose was an African violet until I read your sentence. So many pretty flowers I have never seen a podophyllum, very interesting!I love the designs in your start. My dicentra has done the same thing.

  9. I am also intrigued by the Podophyllum... never seen one either! But maybe now that I have, I will recognize it at a nursery! Who knows? Got the card--you are very welcome my friend! Hugs!

  10. Beautiful flowers and stitching. I'm surprised the pansies don't last through the summer like they do here. Most of the varieties of Bleeding Heart disappear in the middle of summer here.

  11. It really does feel like "blossom by blossom." The miniature irises were taken over by the daffodils which are ceding to the tete-a-tete daffs. Soon the muscari will burst forth. And then, riot! Lovely. :)

  13. Really love the way the yellow seems to pop out in that design and on the linen you are using for it.

The flowers are a welcome sight too on this dreary, rainy, COLD day here. :)
