The whirly-twirly vine was a bit of a bear to stitch!

It's time for our Weekly Wednesday Walk. 

It is amazing how quickly things change in early Spring. 

The earliest of the Lamb's Tongues are in bloom. 

They like the shaded edges of the forest.

Early April is one green thing after another.

I do like the sweet little Spring Beauties.

This is Common Chickweed (Stellaria media).  It is a cool-season European native plant.  I found it happily growing in a seep.

Every once in a while a Trillium has a 'sport' and instead of the white blossom, there is a pale pink one.  

I enjoy seeing the few established patches of Western Trilliums (Trillium ovatum).

Their blooms are held on small stalks above the leaves. 

The Small-flowered Trillium (Trillium parviflorum) have mottled leaves when mature, and their blooms rest flush against the leaves.  The plants can become large 'clumping' Trillium if left alone.

Isn't this Plum just the prettiest thing?  It only lasts 7-10 days.

Ephemeral Loveliness.

Here's our native Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) all budded up.

And here it is blooming.

Most of the Osoberry have finished blooming, but I found this large stand in deep shade with a veritable waterfall of white. 

Nothing says Spring like the bright green of emerging Cottonwood leaves!
