Post-snow now, and the bunnies are out and about again.
I think they have such wonderful faces.
I know some people have cats and an Indoor pet rabbit...
...but I just can't imagine my crew accepting a bunny companion.
This is my best picture so far of a Varied Thrush. I've only ever seen one bird, so I'm left wondering how many there might be.
And here's the Mystery Bird - Revealed!
Back on March 16th I posted a shot of a bird silhouette up in a tree. I invited people to "Guess What Bird". Several people took me up - Mourning Dove was the favorite answer. The correct answer is: Band-Tailed Pigeon. They are large birds with a white collar, and a yellow beak and feet. We've now had sightings of 3, 5, and 7. Come mid-Spring our group will swell to 50 or more. I don't really like them - they are absolute PIGS at the bird feeder and can clean out a large feeder in 15 minutes or so, not allowing any other species a chance to feed.
I'm going to end with a special thanks to the line crews of Lane Electric Cooperative. They've been working 18 hours on / 6 hours off since the snow storm began on Wednesday morning. Amazing dedication to a very dangerous job!
Those bunnies are so cute! I know how you feel about the crews that work on power lines, you just want to run out and hug them! They work so very hard in storms!
ReplyDeleteA pigeon??? Never would have guessed!! Love the coloring of the Varied Thrush. I absolutely adore bunnies....but have to ask...what did he get his nose into?? Poor thing! So very very glad you have power now! The power crews definitely work hard and I love the cooperation between states during tough times! Much to be grateful for! Have a fantastic Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThe bunnies are so cute! We had a cat that used to bring us a rabbit every year around Easter. Neighbors weren't so happy when it was their pet rabbit that they kept in an outdoor hutch. :( Eek!
ReplyDeleteThe bunnies are adorable - I have a family of them living under our deck. Glad the power is back on - hot water is a something we take for granted until it isn't there and boy would I miss it. Hope the weather warms up.
ReplyDeleteThey look and sound like (your greedy description) our woodpigeons. People call them feathered rats over here.
ReplyDeleteThe Thumper family is lovely! And all those birds! Hum! What a lovely place to live! Glad you have power back already! Don't forget, as you said, to wish for snow, but also for power on!
