Bees and Birds

I worked on Chessie's "Quaker Bee Sampler" a bit.  Made some progress on the lower-case alphabet.

Whenever I curse the thuggish nature of the wild mullein in the front flowerbed, I must remind myself...

...that they provide a most excellent habitat for our many woodpeckers.

Including this most vibrant fellow...

...a male Red Breasted Sapsucker!

So I should just continue to be industrious in my weeding and keep the mullein numbers under control.  Then I can enjoy the avian visitors who perch on the mullen and eat the seeds.

Still decorating...

With the four cat residing at Clos du Bois, it's only fitting to have a Cat Halloween decoration.

Living in the country we don't get any Trick or Treaters, but we decorate as though we might!

  1. I think woodpeckers are my favorite bird. I've never seen any around my house, but my mother gets the Downy and Red-bellied woodpeckers at her house. I love your blog header and all of your Halloween decorations. :)
    Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Just to get to see those woodpeckers is enough reason to leave the mullins!

  7. Nice progress on your Quaker piece, Beth! Love the decorating. I haven't put up a thing and don't know if I will. I feel almost as if I've transitioned into Christmas mode since I need to get working on ornaments. Love the bird photos, as always!
