After a couple of week's hiatus, the female Hairy Woodpecker has returned.
Her she's fighting off a Starling.
Apparently our deer fence works well as a perch.
Who knew?
This is only the second time I've observed an Acorn Woodpecker using a hummingbird feeder...
...not to perch...
...but to have a drink!
This though is generally where I see him.
The Flickers remain faithful.
Both female...
...and male.
Again, the deer fence works as a perch!
Such a pretty bird.
But the thrill of the week was a Pileated Woodpecker fly in just long enough for me to snap off one photo. Then he flew off long and low across the back yard - that was fun to observe. They are big birds!
Awesome
