The Tree Swallows are my Blue Birds.
It's hard to get a photo that shows off the pretty blue feathers.
The light has to be just right.

My parent Tree Swallows are busy from dawn to dusk.
They swoop over to the bird house and then duck inside to feed the babies.

They then fly off again in search of insects. They a fiercely protective.  Parvati (female cat) was watching them and they dive-bombed her and ran her off back up on to the back patio.  Now when she sees them she dashes away.  Go birds!

The baby Tree Swallow are big enough that they are now looking out of the house.  They have 'extra' white on the side of their mouths that the adults do not have.

Moving on from blue to violet-green.  This house is going to be the first Violet-green Swallow house to have babies. They've been nesting a while.  Everyday I stop for a moment or two to watch and listen for soft 'cheeping'.

This house is still in the nest building stage.  You can see bits of grass sticking out from the bottom.

Here's the happy couple.  The female on the house while the male watches from above.

The Black-capped Chickadee birdhouse nest is still active.
Besides feeding the babies, the adults also perform important tasks like removing the bird poop from the nest to keep in clean as shown here.

Sometimes the birds pause for a moment before entering or leaving the house.

That gives me the best chance for taking a decent photo.

Headed in!

Look at the cache of food - green caterpillars and a flying insect.

Look closely and you can see a bird inside the house.

Both parents arrived at about the same time.
Chow time everyone!
