We had a very busy weekend what with one thing and another, so I don't have any new stitching to show. Since I'm featuring birds this month, I thought I'd toss in an owl stitch from my archives.
And while, I've not seen an owl, I did see an 'infrequent' bird.
This is a female Brown-headed Cowbird. The male is shiny black with a chocolate brown head. The female is 'quieter' in colors - her size and the beak helped me to ID her.
Lots of people do not care for Cowbirds as they are a parasitic bird. They find an active nest and lay their eggs in the nest, often tossing out the original eggs. The Cowbird eggs and babies are then raised by the other, often smaller birds.
I counted 16 California Quail the other day.
Everyone has paired up.
Sunday morning was rather cold and rainy.
The birds were extra puffy in defense of the weather.
I wish I could puff myself up like the quails against the cold, rainy weather we've been having, Beth!! They are so cute! And your old owl stitch is perfect for bird month :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty

Bird's photos are super
Ciao Giovanna
What a cute little owl you have stitched! A cowbird, I have never seen one of those. As always, I enjoy seeing the quails even if the poor things were cold!
ReplyDeleteThe Cali Quail are so beautiful!
