Building A Border

I've been busy building a border!  It doesn't look like much, but it has taken me a couple of days to stitch most of the border for the 2013 Collector's Heart.  I've become very fond of the color combination of pink and brown.

I am a bit late with the Trail Camera photos for January.

As usual, we had lots of deer around.

They ford "Dorothy's Creek" here so it is a good place to have the camera.

There is something inherently peaceful about the deer when they think they are unobserved.

Though that can change quickly if they think they are in danger.

We also had raccoons pass by.

And an opossum or two.

I'm reasonably certain this is a coyote.

Look closely at the right side of the water trough and you can see a gray squirrel having a drink.

We must have several Bob-cats in the area.

With low light in January it is hard to get a good photo of a fast moving animal.

The Bob-cats seemed to be quite active.

Here's a close up.

3/4 of a cat! Exit stage left!

Enter stage right.

This is a pretty good-sized cat.

Blurry close up.

Besides the Bob-cats, I think we had a cougar stroll by.

The photo is dark and hard to see, but I think it is a much larger animal with longer legs and a long tail.

  1. Do you live in the woods with few neighbors? I'm always amazed at the wildlife that wanders by so close to your house!

  2. Holy smokes! I'd be afraid to go outside at night knowing those big cats were roaming about.

  3. Yes! I believe brown and pink are so lovely together.
Wowie zowie on the wildlife. And so green!! Very white here still.

  4. I'm with you on liking brown and pink together! Or grey and pink... I think that is a bigger, different cat too! Yikes!

  5. Good for you on the border. They do take time and I think yours look great, especially the brown and pink. I must remember that combination!

The night cam is always interesting and a bit spooky when you spot a predator!

  7. Scary big cats, it's strange to think they are out there wandering about, hunting at night.

  8. Cougars and Bobcats - neither to be trifled with!
This morning when I went out with the dog at sunrise I surprised two deer in the side yard - I don't know who was more frightened.....they or I!

  9. Pink and brown are my favorite! I always enjoy your trail cam photos. The coyotes around here were very active and vocal last night. We've also had a bobcat roaming the neighborhood, which is unusual since the bobcats normally stay near the timber and the creek.

  10. Whoa! That's a lot of cats. I'm surprised there are ANY bunnies left to munch on your lawn. :(
