A wonderful October stitch! Black and orange aren't my favorite colors by any stretch, but with the yellow, orange and green of the marigolds I think the piece is great and is probably going to be on my short list to be framed next year.
Here's a final celebration of our October Marigolds taken mid-month.
My sister loves September and October. These flowers are part of the reason why.
Here are a few birds sporting October colors.
The Goldfinches
A handsome House Finch

A Goldfinch and a Golden-crowned Sparrow
A juvenile Starling. I do not care for the birds, but have to admit they are rather pretty.
such a sweet finish my dear x
ReplyDeleteLove your finish! Congrats!! I don't care for the starlings either, but they are rather dramatic looking birds. Are all of the goldfinchs this muted color for winter? No more bright yellow?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your October finish - it's just gorgeous! Those marigolds are stunning. Maybe we appreciate their colours more now that there is so much more grey around!
ReplyDeleteYour wildlife photos are lovely, as always!
ReplyDeleteI just love that Halloween finish! The marigolds are fabulous and the perfect addition to the traditional Halloween things. Wonderful!
Nice finish...I think Juvie starling look Like so much fun...all those dots......
ReplyDeleteWe love the starlings they swabble all the time and swoop in in large numbers, hubby has just filled the mealworms so we will see them soon
ReplyDeleteThis cross stitch series is just so fabulous. I do love each one! Love the marigolds and the birds -- they are definitely decked out for Autumn!
ReplyDeleteOctober Marigold looks great. We've had several frosty mornings and very chilly temps, but for some reason we have flowers blooming, including marigolds, snapdragons, blanket flowers and tickseed. So odd for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI could watch the Goldfinches and House Finches all day long. Your's are so pretty.
Very apt finish for the month Beth, it looks very bonnie. The house finch is a sweet looking bird.
ReplyDeleteBeth, that is the perfect October finish! I love it. I wish I had chosen that monthly series. I never saw a pretty starling until your blog!!
ReplyDeletePretty stitching and bird shots as well!
ReplyDeleteHere, with two heavy frosts under our belt, my marigolds are still blooming! Petering out but still alive :)
Beth, October's cross stitch is gorgeous! I love all the little details she packs into each month!
ReplyDeleteI love the Cottage Garden series so much. This is a lovely one, looking forward to seeing all twelve together!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty colors! Great finish--I look forward to seeing it framed next year!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful fall finish. And of course you have matching marigolds from your garden. I would expect no less! ;)
