This is a tiny little bee skep - about 1" by 1", easily done while watching a program on television.
Padma does not much care for television, but he does like linens. One of his favorite things to to rest in this drawer of kitchen linens if given the chance.
A New Bird - and not a headless one this time.
This is the well-named Yellow-breast Chat.
It likes dense brush which is where I found it.
Once again, I heard it well before I saw it. This song bird is a chatterbox and has an amazing array of sounds it makes. Take a listen here to its Typical Voice.
After talking to a more experienced birder, I found out that this is a somewhat usual bird to see this far north. It is much more common in the forests and thickets of the Umpqua Valley to the south. So I was really pleased to have seen it. It is probably the only time I'll see it. And these good photos make up for the my lack of Lazuli Bunting photos.
I am still getting some nice Cedar Waxwing photos.
The other evening a female spent some time on the ground near my bird feeders.
She seemed pretty fearless.
I had a group of six birds on Friday night, but once again no camera.
With hotter, sunnier days the cats are in continual search of shade. Solomon and Parvati (brother and sister) seemed to feel there was not enough room for them both to hang out in the shade of the mudroom nook.
One year ago today Mom and I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum to look at Elizabethan era textiles.
Pretty little finish, well done. And what a lovely new bird - colourful songbirds are among my favourites.
