The stitch is "An Ode to My Sister's Kitchen Garden". She would point out that it is an immature squash as it still has a bit of green color. That's the difference between an artist and a farmer!
A couple of observant people noticed in yesterday's post that Parvati had on 'a blue thing'. Poor Parvati has become a "Caped Crusader" to protect her left ear post-surgery. Can you see the stitches on her ear?
This view shows the big staples that are attempting to hold her ear back together once again. Like her twin brother Padma, she got a large hematoma in her ear and the skin separated from the cartilage. Usually this problem is a sign of severe ear-mites, but in our case, the vet thinks our two Hufflepuffs are genetically predisposed to the condition as their ears were 'clean'.
Parvati had surgery and now has to wear this cape for a couple of weeks until the skin has reattached and the staples and stitches can be removed. Yesterday we noticed that despite the cape, the ear was swollen with blood once again. Back to the Vet we go! Parvati is NOT a happy girl!

While I've not managed to get a good photo, I have been delighted to see and hear Pileated Woodpeckers once again.
Both times they've been early morning visitors - arriving just as the sun is coming up over the hill - so they are backlit. I think though that if you click on this photo to enlarge it, you'll be able to see the lovely white and red bands on the head of the bird.
And speaking of seeing and hearing...Earlier this week TWO Great Blue Herons flew overhead. What a raucous cacophony they made!

What a good idea the cape is. Normally here the vet gives you a plastic cone to put around their heads which are very cumbersome.

I like your finish! Interesting about the cape. I wonder if it works as well as the cone of shame. Hope Parvati gets better -- her brother too.

ReplyDeleteI hope Parvati's ear heals up soon. It's not easy when cats have to "wear" anything. We had our kitten home for two nights in a row with an IV in her leg - long story - and she wasn't a happy girl.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Parvati's ear had surgery, but hope that it heals quickly and with no complications. Great blue heron--so lovely. I used to see them on Orcas Island where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteAww, poor kitty! That blue collar looks alot more comfortable than the plastic e-collar my little dog had to wear after her eye surgery last month.
