Many, many, many years ago we had a small Northern Saw Whet Owl (Aegolius acadicus) fall down our chimney. He hopped onto the grate and dusted off, then flew to the front window behind our curtains. I came downstairs (without my glasses) and saw a shadow in the drapes...and ran back upstairs for help and a pair of glasses. We tried to wrap him in a bath towel, but he hissed, and clicked, and otherwise acted like the small predator he was. So we opened the back patio sliding glass door. He flew to the telephone, lit on the receiver, then flew out the back door to a large Douglas Fir Tree. Immediately a couple dozen song birds vacated the tree!
Cute story! :) I had a Cardinal in my living room before....but an owl would have been much more exciting!
ReplyDeleteLove your cross-stitch and your owl story. I'm glad the owl found his way out of the house without too much mayhem!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest owl ever!! In our other house we used to have sparrows end up in our fireplace and we did the same thing. Closed off the family room and opened up the sliding glass doors. Always gave me a little scare though.
ReplyDeleteWoot! What a lovely finish! Plenty of owls in the forest here. I hear them every night. Never had one in the house, though!
