Finished Stitching and Still Planting

Design - "Indian Corn" (my name)
Chart - "Thanksgiving Comes Again" #141
Designer - The Prairie Schooler
Fabric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - DMC (one strand over two threads)
Started - 15 September 2010
Completed - 17 September 2010

This was great fun to do - I may also stitch the squirrel and pumpkins square which are part of this piece.

I love the color gradation on the three ears of corn, from light to dark.

On the gardening front, I treated myself to this small pansy...and the pot.
I am a sucker for all things blue .

My mother bought these plants back in May, and has never set them out.
I couldn't stand it any longer, so on the muggiest evening of the year (Thursday night), I potted them up.

Cupresses arizonica - Arizona Cypress - "Blue Ice"
We now have perhaps a dozen small conifers in pots of various sizes.
As this one is supposed to get 40' tall and 15' wide it will not live in a pot for long!

 Hebe imbricata
I love the color and texture of this small hebe.

Agave toumeyana

We also are getting quite the collection of hardy agaves too.
They are great low maintenance plants - if potted in the proper well-draining soil mix, they are pretty care-free and the deer leave them alone too!

Just a reminder, if you are bored this rainy weekend, you can take in the Lane County Dahlia Society's 47th Annual Dahlia Show in the Wheeler Pavilion at the Lane County, Oregon Fairgrounds.  Hours are 1-6pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.  The flowers are amazing!
