Where are the Rufous Hummingbirds?
Apparently their northern range is contracting and fewer birds are migrating this far north.
The Merlin app has heard one a couple of times, but I've not had a good visual.
Back in the day, I had several each summer.
Females
and males.
Such a strike bird.
Easy to see why I miss them.
Well there's still half of May, all of June, and some of July.
So I'll keep watching an hoping.
That is fascinating that they aren't migrating to you. Do you have any Quail hanging around? I remember you had numbers for a many years and that last few years very few.
