Lots of bunnies and lots of birds today.
This post is a bit late, but it is worth the wait I think.

This series of photos could be called "Woodpecker Couples".

Here's the female Hairy Woodpecker...

...and for just a moment I had both the female and male at the same feeder.
You can see the male's tail on the backside of the feeder.

The the male became aggressive, and the female flew off to wait her turn.

My Acorn Woodpeckers are much better at sharing the feeders.

I've been going through peanuts like crazy the past couple of weeks.

Here's a male Northern Flicker.

And here's a female.

And here they are sharing a feeder!

This morning when I went down to fill the Big Bird Feeder, I glanced over at one of our woodpiles...and a flash of red caught my eye.

A female Pileated Woodpecker!

I was pretty stoked to see her.

And then I realized that there was a male Pileated with her.

While I was disappointed that I was not able to get a photo of the two birds together, I still think it's a great day when these birds appear.

They made my day and I'd not yet had breakfast!
