Winner Winner!

At the of August I was excited learn than I had won a cross stitch give away at Justine's Cross StitchJustine showered me with goodies!

She included a lavender sachet and a hummingbird cross stitch.
Highly personalized gifts!

Some amusing tissues and blue bunny fabric.

The hedgehog biscornu in autumnal colors is such a wonderful gift.  I am in awe of anyone who can stitch and finish an eight sided pincushion.  She then added the charming leaf accent button and acorn pins.  I'll have to keep this out of the sight of my many woodpeckers!

Thanks so very much Justine!

I've had a Red-tailed Hawk or two flying high in the sky.

Far more bothersome has been the presence of a Cooper's Hawk.

He preys on large birds like my jays and quail.  So I yell and loudly clap my hands whenever I see him in an effort to get him to 'relocate'.

I had a Lesser Goldfinch couple come by on Saturday.

The male is much more colorful in October than his American Goldfinch counterparts.

I also had a male Evening Grosbeak stop by.

They've been at higher elevations for the summer nesting and breeding.

Now they are on the move again, though I confess I'm not certain where they spend the winter.
