Four different woodpecker species come regularly to the feeders.

The Downy Woodpecker is by far the smallest.

This is a female - no red on the head.


And this is a Hairy Woodpecker - the next in size.

This is a male.

  1. Snow Joe is a dapper fellow. We saw what we think was a downy woodpecker at the feeder yesterday afternoon. Yes, we were a bit surprised.
