"Tis the season for a touch of red.
In stitching and in birds.
I saw a male Hairy Woodpecker in the front of the house.
Then one appeared at the back of the house.
See the red on his head?
And look how he's using his stiff tail feathers to help counter balance while upside down.
No red, but still pretty. A female Hairy Woodpecker.
You can see her tongue in both photos.
Darling Quaker piece, Beth! A touch of red in the Hairy male is lovely.
