I have a small mixed flock of Lesser and American Goldfinches.

Most are muted in color.

A few of the males are still sporting bright yellow feathers.

Am also seeing Bushtits.

Light-eyed female.

Five birds.
(Hot pepper suet to discourage the bear).

Feasting.

  1. Sweet bird stitch you featured, Beth! Glad the birds don't mind the hot pepper suet.

  2. Too funny about the hot pepper suet. Good to know the birds are ok with it. By chance do you have any tips to help deter racoons from going after a Hummingbird feeder? In your delightful post, you shared "A few of the males are still sporting bright yellow feathers". This makes me ponder if these birds loose their yellow feathers and regrow them in another season. I didn't realize the color might be a seasonal thing.
