Everywhere I look there are newly fledged birds like this Black-headed Grosbeak.

I could have a sub-category of Begging Babies!

Here's a Steller's Jay family.

I have to show of some of the nice photos of Golden-crowned Warblers I've taken recently even though they are not family portraits.

See the crown?

Eating suet...

...and Bark Butter bits...

...and pressed suet in s cylinder.

Open wide!

And hooray!  The Black-capped Chickadees have fledged too.

They make fr cute and demanding babies!

Back to Stitching

Sunday was cool and showery so I pulled out "Chester" to work on.  I finished up the rug and started working on filling in the boarder.

Earlier in the week, I decided to sit by the Big Creek to see what was going on there.  Besides Steller's Jays, Chickadees, Downy Woodpeckers, and Goldfinches, I spied my first Western Tanager of the year (no photo).  I was able to capture a Bewick's Wren.

And a Willow Flycatcher entertained me coming by several times to pose.

There was also a small flock of Cedar Waxwings.

And lots of Black-headed Grosbeaks.

The Weird and the Cute

Here's the weird - these two lizards bask on the sidewalk daily.

I think this might be a Sagebrush Lizard.

This is a Western Fence Lizard.

And now for the cute.  This is Mama...

...and this is Baby.

Pretty cute, am I right?

Eating grass...

...and nursing.

Once again, cute, right?

I captured an Orange-crowned Warbler...

...and if you look closely, you can actually see the orange crown - a rare event!

I had a couple of Cedar Waxwings fly in late in the evening.

One bird gave me a couple of nice poses.

Such a striking bird.

Summer Celebration

Design - "Litha: Summer Solstice" (freebie)

Fabric - 25 count Vintage Country Mocha Lugana
Fibers - DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 22 June 2014
Completed - 23 June 2014

Summer is here - let's celebrate.

The House Wrens are parents now.

I watch them fly in and out of the house.  Often when they leave, they are carrying a fecal sac to help keep the nest clean of feces.  Pretty clever of Mother Nature.

As best I can tell the Black-capped Chickadees are done nesting.

I think a Downy Woodpecker created the tiny holes on this branch.

I had a female Brown-headed Cowbird show up.

Big news in Acorn Woodpeckerland!  I've seen three birds multiple times now.  This is a new bird - a male with pink eyes.

The Pine Siskins have nested and fledged.  The youngster on top successful begged for food and was fed multiple times.

And here's a young Steller's Jay!  A rumpled mess like most teenagers are.
