It's been years and years since I've stitched on 25 count fabric. I thought I might not like it, but no worries, it went just fine! I've misplaced the five small white buttons that are supposed to be part of the design. If when I find them, I'll post an updated photo.
Western Oregon and Washington general have mild winters - perfect for those birds that breed in Alaska like Canada Geese and Cackling Geese and other large birds like the Tundra Swans.
We often see Canada Geese and Cackling Geese in school sports fields.
This is a flock of Cackling Geese.
They look just like Canada Geese, but are smaller birds with shorter necks.
They also sound different than Canada Geese.
Last year there were stakes and other impediments planted out in field in an attempt to deter the birds.
Looks like they gave up this year.
The birds do work over the grass pretty hard.
They are often joined by a few crows...
...and gulls.
Congratulations on your adorable winter finish, Beth! Love the colors in this one! Nice shots of the geese!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty Winter stitch, I love the soft pinks and blues. Is that over one on 25 count?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet new winter stitch Beth. I love it. I'm sorry I have not been around lately but I've had that flu bug and computer issues. I will catch up with all you have done though. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute winter finish. I hope to make it to an area north of here where they have snow geese in the winter.
ReplyDeleteSweet stitch, I hope you find the buttons! I never knew about cackling geese, we have tons of Canada geese but I'll pay more attention and see if we have the other variety. I'm learning so much about birding on your blog! Mary
