Catching Up (Again)

Here's my progress on The Prairie Schooler's "Hummingbird" from the "Prairie Birds" chart. I am thinking the vine is a honeysuckle.

I am now attempting to catch back up again after being on vacation from July 29th through August 6th.  My sister and I flew back to Michigan to visit our cousin and her family.  We had a wonderful time together.  I had intended to blog while there, but that did not happen.  So now I'm going to 'back-fill' some posts about our trip, and I will link them in current posts so that you can read about our vacation if you are so inclined.

First up here are some of the great Oregon birds that greeted me when I returned home.

A Great Blue Heron

Oodles of Californa Quail chicks

A young Red-breasted Sapsucker

A handsome Starling

A smiling Willow Flycatcher - he looks like he is smiling anyway!

In one morning I had a male Wilson's Warbler...

...and a female Western Tanager come to visit.

This is my first sighting of a female Western Tanager this summer.

Most of my woodpeckers have come by including this female Hairy Woodpecker.

I do look forward to sharing some of the Michigan birds I was able to 'capture' on my vacation.  Stay tuned!

  2. Those yellow birds are just beautiful. I am really looking forward to your Michigan posts. It is a favorite state of mine. All the while I was growing up in Chicago, Michigan is where we vacationed.

  5. I heard Summer Tanager, but did not see any this year... Saw a Scarlet one, but too quick to get a snap! Great pictures, all of them! By now you probably have the Hummer stitched! Aren't they fun to stitch? Hugs!
