Mournful Wednesday

Padma Patel Hufflepuff - May 30, 2001 to April 17, 2016
After almost 16 years, on Monday we had to say goodbye to our beloved Big Boy, Padma.  I am still teary and mourning his loss.  I'll post a tribute later this month, but I wanted to note the change his passing has made to our lives.

The weather has been cold and somber.
Dark skies, thunder, hail, rain.

Nonetheless spring marches on.

We have a clematis blooming.

And April is Bleeding Heart time.
This is our native bleeding heart.

We also have a couple of cultivars.

This bright green bleeding heart lights up a dark corner and plays nicely with the trilliums and hellebore.

We are getting a small collection of muscari (grape hyacinths).

This large fuzzy one is my favorite.

This white-topped one is called Mount Hood.

A perennial forget-me-not.

Hosta emerging.

Pretty primrose

A new primrose.

I'll plant it in the front of the flowerbed. Now that we have a deer fence, it should thrive there.

And no one will munch on the lilies this year!

Small rhododendron

A new pale pink flowering currant.

The older, bright pink current is going strong.

If you mourn, it is only because you shared your heart.

  8. I am so sorry for your loss! I loved seeing his photos.
We lost 3 of ours last year. We finally went to the shelter and brought home 2 new friends. They will never replace our old friends, but at least I know they are safe and have a home.

  9. So sorry to hear of your loss Beth. It's never easy to say goodbye to a furry love. Kitty is waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, covorting with his sidekicks I'm sure.

Your pics of flowers are spectacular.
